Jose Maria Sison, or Ka Joma, was a great Marxist thinker and practical leader of the Philippine revolution. He follows in the footsteps of such great Marxist thinkers and leaders as Lenin and Mao whose theoretical works and revolutionary practice had transformed not only their own countries but changed the course of history.
Sison’s life-long work as a great thinker and practical leader of a revolutionary movement has not only changed the course of Philippine history as it pertains to the Filipino people’s struggle for national and social liberation but has also inspired and influenced progressive and revolutionary movements around the world.
The main bulk of his works of course pertains to the revolutionary movement in the Philippines. But as a deeply committed internationalist, he spent considerable time and effort in contributing to the struggles of the oppressed and exploited peoples around the world.
He actively engaged with progressive and revolutionary parties and organizations in conferences and bilateral meetings to exchange theoretical views and practical experiences in revolutionary work.
His wide and solid knowledge on philosophy, political economy and social science and their application in understanding the world in order to transform it, places him among the ranks of great thinkers and revolutionary leaders of his time.
Jose Maria Sison’s legacy must be preserved for current and future generations in the struggle of humankind to build a new and better world. This is the ambition and purpose of the Jose Maria Sison Legacy Foundation.
The Foundation oversees several components which work together to carry out the mission of the Foundation: a museum, the archives and library, the Jose Maria Sison website, and a schedule of events that use these various components as a venue to share Ka Joma’s works with the world.
The museum exhibits and displays various objects and artifacts related to Jose Maria Sison’s life and work, with rotating exhibitions based on various themes.
The archives arrange, describe, and preserve the records of Jose Maria Sison and his wife and comrade Julie de Lima. The library catalogues their extensive collection of political texts and reference materials.
The website and online presence of the Foundation makes widely accessible Jose Maria Sison’s writings and other documentation related to his life and work.
Through research, publications, exhibits, events, and public education, the Foundation aims to promote and share the legacy of Jose Maria Sison for all revolutionaries, activists, scholars, and seekers of a just society.

Giving material support
We always welcome material support. This can be in the form of donations in-kind, such as office supplies, specialized archival equipment and supplies, and food for events, or it can be in the form of financial contributions. This type of support is extremely valuable to us, because it can help us realize some longer-term projects that are integral to the Foundation’s work. Here are some examples of how your contributions will help the Foundation moving forward:
- Running and maintaining the website – if we want to make sure the website remains up and running for the foreseeable future, we need to put resources into it.
- Making Ka Joma’s archives accessible online – there are so many interesting and significant records we want to make useable and useful for people engaged in struggle, and to do so we need software, equipment, and supplies to do so.
- Mounting exhibits and opening the museum – we want to set up a brick-and-mortar space that will be a stable location for people to visit the permanent and rotating exhibits.
If you want to see any of these projects come to fruition, please consider giving to the Foundation! Contact jms.foundation@proton.me to find out how you can help.
